George Danby is the staff editorial cartoonist for the Bangor Daily News. His cartoons appear in print and online, six days a week, at danbyink.bangordailynews.com.

Danby’s cartoons have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USAToday, Time, Newsweek and DownEast… countless other publications including 500 weeklies. In the late 1970s into the 1980s he was staff cartoonist for The New Haven Register and The Providence-Journal Bulletin.

He has drawn over 25,000 cartoons since 1974. Frankly, he’s exhausted!

His first collection of editorial cartoons entitled ” The Essential Danby,” was released in October of 2014 through Islandport Press.

Danby offers his unique perspective on the roller coaster that has been modern life and politics for the last few decades here in Maine and beyond. The Essential Danby is a retrospective that, for the first time ever, gathers in one volume a collection of editorial cartoons drawn from the artist’s archive of more than 25,000 cartoons. The Essential Danby offers more than 150 of his most humorous and insightful images that will have you rolling in your seat with laughter. For anyone who lives in or regularly visits the state of Maine, or simply appreciates the truth behind the spin, The Essential Danby is a must-have book for its funny, rare take on the pleasures and pitfalls of modern times, the absurdity of politicians, and the state of our state and nation.

The book is available through danbyink.com, Islandport Press, local book sellers and Amazon.com.
